Becoming a better companion for your horse!
. Thank you for taking the time to read our first issue of Trugon Chat! I hope this will help you along in your journey to becoming a better partner for your horse. What I would like to do is share with you experiences that occur here at the ranch so that you can see that YOU are not always "the only one" who is in a particular boat! Or saddle for this case! As you know, we train, board and sell horses, and have done so for the last ten years now.
During that time you begin to see certain patterns that tend to repeat themselves. The one that we will discuss this month is "Owner Education". Let me share with you the typical scenario. Hannah the horse owner has a horse that she dearly loves but she would like to be able to do more things with her horse. You know trail riding seems kind of fun! I would love to try her in Dressage. I would like for my children to be safe around my horse, I would love to learn natural horsemanship, etc... Or Harry the new horse owner just bought a new horse but hasn't ridden in quite a while. He doesn't have time for lessons, so he runs on home with his new horse without any riding lessons!
So Hannah obtains the services of a local horse trainer. She drops her horse off, writes the check, and off she goes back to her busy life. The horse is trained and working out just fine for the trainer. Now it's time for the horse to go home. Hannah picks her horse up that just finished his horse training and away she goes back to her home! Hannah has a busy work load, the kids have soccer and Hannah's horse sits with no one to ride her.
Hannah then finds a nice day to ride, so she saddles her horse up and what do you know, the horse runs off or begins to buck a little! Hannah says " I just had this horse trained with natural horsemanship methods and paid all that money and now I have this on my hands! Hannah is not happy! And Harry doesn't quite remember how to rein his horse so the horse is all over the trail like a drunken cowboy!
Folks, we and other trainers see this all the time. That's why I like for you to spend some time with us and incorporate you into your horses training process. It's important that you learn and develop your natural horsemanship right along with your horse. I know RFDTV is there for you to watch. But the best way that I have found for people to learn is by actually getting involved with their horses training.
If you really care about your horse like I see so many of you do, then I would like to invite you to come out and enjoy some of the sessions right along with your horse as he moves through his horse training! It's fun, and you actually get your mind off of your job for awhile! Plus your horse is glad to see you!
Regardless if you select us or another trainer, I would encourage you to get involved in your horses training so that you can learn how to remedy some of those issues that arise and cause you to get upset or even worse, think about selling your horse! We have 250 acres of trails that you can spend the day trail riding on. Or you can simply ride in our outdoor arena for that quick fix when your schedule is too tight! The most important thing is for you to come out and spend quality time with your horse so that the two of you grow together in your natural horsemanship knowledge!
I hope this helps with some of your concerns with your horse. Please lets us know what you think about our new Trugon Chat! This will help us to better assist you in your desires to becoming that better companion for your horse!
